Deputy CEO for treasury & investment affairs

Marwan Al-Lahham holds a Master’s degree in International Banking and Finance from the University of Liverpool, UK, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Mu’tah University, Jordan. He has worked as Chief Dealer for the Bank of Jordan, Head of Regional Markets for Capital Bank - Jordan, and Head of Treasury and Investment Department for Arab Bank - Syria. He has also worked as a lecturer in treasury and investment management at the Institution of Banking Studies. He joined alBaraka Bank Syria s.a. in 2011 as Assistant CEO for Treasury and Investment Affairs. In 2018, he was promoted to Deputy CEO for Treasury and Investment Affairs.

Assistant CEO - Central Operations

Mohammed Adeeb Abu Naser holds a Master’s degree in Financial Management from the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Damascus University. He is a Certified Islamic Banker (CIB) from the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions. With over 21 years of professional Banking experience. In 2014, he joined alBaraka Bank Syria as the Central Operations Director and was promoted to Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Central Operations in 2021.

Marketing ,PR & Corporate Social Responsibility Director

Fadi Al-Hariri holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration, specializing in Strategic Marketing, from the University of Westminster, London, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Agro Engineering from the University of Aleppo. He is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, USA, and a Certified Islamic Banker (CIB) from the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions in Bahrain. With over 21 years of experience, he has worked as a consultant in EU Mediterranean programs and as a Sales Manager and Product Marketing Manager in a leading telecommunications company. In 2010, he joined the banking sector and became Marketing Director at alBaraka Bank Syria, later promoted to Marketing, Public Relations, and Corporate Social Responsibility Director in April 2017.

Credit Director

Abdullah Al-Omar holds a Master’s degree in Financial Management from the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Aleppo. He is also a Certified Islamic Banker (CIB) from the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions. With over 16 years of professional banking experience. In 2011, he joined alBaraka Bank Syria as a Medium and Retail Finance Manager and was promoted to Credit Director in 2017.

Investment Director /Collection Center Manager

Jihad Al Qazaz holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Innovation from York St. John University in Zurich – Switzerland, a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Webster University in Vienna – Austria, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences from Studies Center in Scranton – USA. His experiences exceeded 35 years, 8 years of them in various companies such as (Nature Plus Medical Equipment, Qatar General Petroleum Co., Emirates General Petroleum Co., and Abu Dhabi Petroleum Ports Operating Co.). He joined the Banking Sector in 1991 by working at Dubai Islamic Bank for 17 years , he was appointed at alBaraka Bank Syria in 2013 as Branch Manager, he was promoted in April 2017 to hold the position of Investment Director/Collection Center Manager.

Human Resources Director

Noura Ashrafani holds a Master’s degree in Information Technology Management from the Syrian Virtual University and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Damascus University. She’s a Certified Islamic Banker (CIB) from the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions. With over 17 years of experience, she joined the banking sector in 2008. In 2010, she joined AlBaraka Bank Syria as Personnel Manager and was promoted in June 2013 to Acting Human Resources Director. Later in April 2017, she assumed the position of Human Resources Director.

Chief Financial Officer

Talal Al-Ayoubi holds a Master’s degree in Financial and Banking Sciences with a specialization in Financial Management from the Arab Academy for Financial and Banking Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Damascus University. He has received a certificate of Professional Development Program, a five-year program issued by alBaraka Bank Group. With over 17 years of professional experience, he joined the banking sector in 2006, starting his career at Bank Audi - Syria. He joined alBaraka Bank Syria in 2010 and held several roles in the Finance Department. In May 2017, he was promoted to Acting Finance Director, and in April 2018, he was assigned as the Finance Director.

Information Technology Director

Mohannad Al-Rawas holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science (CIS) from the Arab Academy for Financial and Banking Sciences. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Sciences, specializing in Informatics from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Damascus. He holds an ITIL certificate and has over 23 years of practical experience in programming and systems. He entered the banking sector in 2000, and in 2010, he joined alBaraka Bank Syria as Core Banking Manager. By the end of 2012, he was assigned as the acting Information Technology Director, and by the end of 2014, he was confirmed as the Information Technology Director.

Administrative Affairs Director

Engineer Maher Al-Deiri holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Damascus University, obtained in 1984. With over 37 years of practical experience, he worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, and later at a private company in the commercial and projects field. He joined the banking sector in 2014, where he was appointed at alBaraka Bank Syria as the Buildings Manager. He was promoted in March 2015 to the Administrative Services Manager, and then to the Administrative Affairs Director in April 2017.

Compliance Director

He holds a Master’s degree in Economic and Social Planning from the Institute of Economic and Social Planning in Damascus and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Damascus University. He also holds several specialized certificates, including the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) from the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists in the USA and the Certified Islamic Banker (CIB) from the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions. With 24 years of experience, he worked in various positions at the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade since 1998, including Deputy Director of Arab Relations from 2003 to 2009. In 2010, he joined alBaraka Bank Syria as the Director of Compliance Monitoring.

Project Management Director

Ehab Issa holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Marketing from Heriot-Watt University, UK, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Damascus University. Moreover, he obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate from the Project Management Institute (PMI). With over 20 years of experience, he worked in several global and local companies, including Microsoft Gulf and Syriatel Telecommunications in Syria. He joined the banking sector in 2010 as a Marketing Specialist at alBaraka Bank Syria and was promoted in February 2014 to PMO Manager. In April 2017, he took the role of Acting Project Management Director, and in April 2018, he was assigned to be the Project Management Director.

Internal Audit Director

Ramy Al Shaal holds an EMBA degree in Executive Management / Financial Management from the Higher Institute of Business Administration - HIBA, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Damascus. He is a certified internal auditor (CIA) accredited by the Institute of Internal Auditors in the United States of America - IIA, Syrian Certified Public Accountant (SCPA). He has more than 16 years of experience in internal audit and accounting. He joined the banking sector in 2006, starting with the Bank of Syria and Overseas – BSO. He joined alBaraka Bank Syria in August /2010 as Senior Internal Auditor and was promoted to Internal Audit Director in April 2014.

Legal Director

Mohammed Khaled Darwish holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Damascus. He is a member of the Syrian Lawyers syndicate. He also holds a certificate from the Shari’a Science Institute of the Al-Gharaa Association in Damascus, he’s a Certified Shari’a Auditor and Accountant (CSAA) from AAOIFI. He has practiced law in various courts and worked as an expert and legal advisor for several private companies, the Prime Minister’s Office, the State Planning Commission, and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on the Jebel Al-Hasa project (Murabaha financing). He joined alBaraka Bank Syria in 2010 as a legal advisor.

Shari’a Audit Dirctor

Fouad Rizk holds a Master’s degree in Islamic Banking from the Higher Institute of Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the Higher Institute of Business Administration. With 8 years of banking experience, he started working at the International Bank for Trade and Finance in the Internal Audit Department as an Officer in Regulation and Operations. He later joined alBaraka Bank Syria in the Shari’a Audit Department on December 12, 2017, and was promoted in mid- 2020 as Acting Director of Shari’a Audit. He was confirmed as the Director of Shari’a Audit on January 6, 2021, and is a member of the Development Committee for Shari’a Audit Systems, Procedures, and Work Programs within the alBaraka Bank Group.

Electronic Payment Director

Bassem Al Said Holds a degree in Information engineering from the Higher Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in 1995. He started his career working in the field of programming and computer systems administration at the Scientific Studies and Research Center in Damascus. He joined the banking sector in 2004, where he worked at Commercial Bank of Syria for 12 years in the field of Electronic Payment, during which he held several administrative positions until he became director of Electronic Payment department at the bank between 2008 and 2015. In 2015, he was assigned to work as the Director of Payment Systems department at the Central Bank of Syria for a year. In 2016, he became the Executive Director and then as a General Manager at the Credit Card Services Company - CSC - Syria. He joined Al Baraka Bank - Syria in 2020 as a consultant in the field of electronic payment and was appointed at the beginning of 2023 as Director of the Electronic Payment Department.
